Are you aware of the recent changes to BS7883?
In August 2007 an amendment (Amendment No.1) was incorporated into BS7883:2005. We have prepared the following explanation for our customers so that you are kept abreast of all the relevant changes.
We are also now developing new Dunn and Cowe products to take on board these latest changes.
Summary of Changes
Definitions of Masonry, Stonework, Brickwork and Blockwork are provided
Clause 3.22 - 3.25 inclusive
Backplates for through type anchor devices - Deals with and includes a recommendation that the backplate should be designed in such a way as to prevent it, and any nut, from falling in the event that the eyebolt is unscrewed by an examiner who does not realise that the installation is a through fix type.
Clause 6.1.5 and Clause 10.11
Additional guidance on minimum edge distances in various types of structural materials.

A new Dunn and Cowe backplate that will comply with the requirements of the new clause 6.1.5 is currently under development. We are also developing a warning sign to comply with the requirements of new clause 13.2.2.
