Lineanka

Class ‘C’ Horizontal, Flexible Safety Line to EN 795 and BS7883:2005.

A horizontal fall protection system requiring a minimal range of components to achieve maximum configuration variations. All components are supplied pre-assembled to reduce on-site labour costs.

LINEANKA is an 8mm stainless steel horizontal, flexible safety line system to EN 795 class ‘C’ and BS7883:2005 class ‘C’. All relevant testing to ensure compliance with EN 795 class ‘C’ and CE mark approval has been carried out by the National Engineering Laboratory, East Kilbride (notified body reference number 0320). Copies of their report are freely available.

The system provides the worker with total fall protection through continuous attachment whilst travelling along the system. The LINEANKA Traveller has the facility to be attached or detached at any point on the system with the added flexibility of allowing the worker to operate on either side of the system without detachment.

The LINEANKA system design software facilitates the calculation of system loadings. Layout spans of up to 13 metres between intermediate supports can be achieved. The number of interchangeable components has been kept to a minimum while still giving sufficient variation of parts to cover a multiplicity of installations. All LINEANKA components are manufactured from high
quality polished stainless steel for best durability and weather resistance.

NUMBER OF USERS

LINEANKA has been developed for attachment of several users simultaneously, depending on the system configuration. The manufacturer must be consulted before installing any system intended for more than two users.

TWO TRAVELLERS ARE AVAILABLE.
The popular 'mini-traveller' is compact and lightweight, while the 'original' traveller offers a double acting spring that allows users to move from one side of the horizontal line to the other without the need to disconnect.

Both Travellers are demountable from any point on the system and require two deliberate and separate actions to permit disengagment from the line.

The INTERMEDIATE BRACKET ASSEMBLY, comprises 2 half brackets with joining bolts, and allows the installer 180° adjustment to find the most suitable alignment to aid free movement of the traveller.

The EXTENDED INTERMEDIATE BRACKET ASSEMBLY, is similar to the standard intermediate bracket but has the added capability of allowing the extended wire guide tube to change direction by up to 15° using special dies fitted to a swaging machine.

CORNER UNITS are available for turning bends of 90° to suit most building configurations. These can be either fixed directly to the substrate or fixed to a pedestal or TOPANKA bracket.

The TENSION INDICATOR gives a visual indication of correct line tensioning, and comes as an assembly combined with a turnbuckle and swage end terminal. The photographs illustrate the condition prior to tensioning (left) and when correct tension is acheived (right).

LINE-TENSI unit is a combined load indicator, turnbuckle and swage end terminal assembly.

EXTREMITY BRACKETS are polished stainless steel and are available for fixing to masonry or steelwork.

LINELIMITER integral energy absorbers are incorporated into each system to obviate the risk of roof surface damage at extremity anchors. The LINEANKA system design software indicates the number of LINELIMITER units required in each system. Supplied as single, double or treble unit components. See photograph below.

SYSTEM DESIGN

The maximum span between intermediate line supports, number of users, edge distance and unobstructed free fall distance are interrelated. Each of these limits must be calculated individually for each system. LINEANKA system design software is available to enable installers to determine the correct configuration of individual systems. Alternatively, installers can
provide design parameters to Dunn & Cowe Ltd, who will carry out the necessary calculations to determine the required components. To continue the uncomplicated nature of the LINEANKA system, the software simply advises the number of LINELIMITER units required.

The system is also suitable for assembly to the WIREANKA free-standing mass friction anchor (to EN 795 class ‘E’) system, where penetration of the roof surface is not possible or permissible for practical or economic reasons. WARNING! WIREANKA has been tested by the National Engineering Laboratory to confirm its suitability for use in conjunction with class ‘C’ wire systems. Alternative dead-weight type anchors SHOULD NOT BE USED unless they have been similarly tested.

TOPANKA posts are available for direct attachment to profiled metal roofs, without the need to access inside the roof structure. Suitable self-tapping screws or rivets are supplied.

POSTANKA pedestals are available for attachment to all types of structural supports including universal beams, steel channels, steel angles and timber trusses.

An easily portable (9Kg with carry-case) hand operated LINE CRIMPING PRESS is available for installers, allowing the use of lighter than standard WIRE SWAGES. Special bending dies are also available to enable this press to bend extended wire guides.
